Mayanot Alumni Wins First Place Prize!

We are very proud to announce that Moishe Chakoff , our Mayanot Men's Program Alumni recently won first place in the Meaningful Life Center MyLife Essay Contest, taking home $10,000 for his incredible and insightful chassidut essay. October 7 Commemoration: Mayanot Visits Nova and Ofakim

Mayanot students travelled down to the site of the Nova festival on Oct 7, 2024 - they are pictured here gathering to hear a survivor tell his story of saving countless lives. We had the privilege of visiting Ofakim, a town on the border of Gaza, where we were welcomed into the homes of families who had suffered deeply. These families shared the heroic stories of their loved ones, who gave everything in their fight to protect their neighbors and their families from Hamas terrorists. It was an emotional experience. Mayanot Women’s Alumni Event: Carrying Positivity into the New Year Just over a week ago, the warm and welcoming Gestetner home in Jerusalem became the setting for an unforgettable evening as the Mayanot Women’s Alumni Network hosted a powerful farbrengen (Chassidic gathering). Alumni from all over the world—Egypt, Russia, Hungary, England, the USA, and Canada—came together, both in person and online, to reflect on what we’re bringing into the new year. The energy in the room was palpable as women shared meaningful intentions for the year ahead. From fostering joy and living with simcha (happiness), to embracing bitachon (trust in G-d) and surrender, laughter, positive thinking, and doing every action with mindfulness and intention, the evening was a celebration of optimism and growth. A Special Visit from Hart and Simona Hasten: Friends of Mayanot and Champions of Jewish Education

On October 9th, we had the honor of welcoming Hart and Simona Hasten, dear friends of Rabbi Shemtov and long-time supporters of Mayanot. The Hastens visited for their first tour of the new Mayanot World Center, where they shared their incredible journey with our students. As they stood on the rooftop, they imagined the future of this space—where hundreds of students, Birthright trips, and Shabbat meals will bring Jewish life and learning to new heights. In a deeply moving ceremony, our students gathered to hear from Hart, now 93 years old, who shared stories of his close friendship with former Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin. Hart spoke of their shared passion for Jewish education and his lifelong commitment to the Jewish people. It was an inspiring day, filled with wisdom, gratitude, and a deep connection to the future of Jewish learning. Remarkable Success even in Challenging Times

On the top of Masada (Mayanot Israel/Birthright Israel Trip) In the summer of 2024, Mayanot's Birthright Israel department achieved remarkable success against a backdrop of regional tensions, made worse by their coverage on USA news-media channels. As Israel continues its campaign of self-defense against Hamas and other terrorist organizations, Mayanot Israel demonstrated resilience and dedication in connecting young Jews with their land, their people and their heritage. Now more than ever, this mission is critical. Despite the challenges facing Israel travel, Mayanot successfully brought 516 participants to the country from May to July for their flagship 10-day Birthright Israel trip. This achievement did not come easily, but the department's dedicated team and partners worked 'round the clock to ensure that anyone that was committed enough - and brave enough - to come to Israel at this time was afforded the opportunity.
